Game #1: Pumpkin Burnout

Burnout is a game where you throw a ball back and forth. Each time you throw it harder and harder until it is nolonger catchable. One fall season my oldest brother Mark and I were playing with a pumpkin in the living room about ten feet apart from eachother. It got faster and faster and then Mark threw it a little high. I reached up, but it was flying too fast and went through my hands, shattered a window and ended up in the front lawn. Needless to say, we don’t play burnout with pumpkins any more.

Game #2: Flame Thrower

Flame thrower is where you take a match and hold down the aerosol hairspray can and watch the flame thrower in action. One time we decided to change it from flame thrower to flame ball. This is where you fill the toilet with hairspray and drop in a match. Last time we did this, my brother dropped the match, the flame ball went up burning so much oxygen that the door to the bathroom slammed and my hair was singed. We spent the rest of the afternoon clipping my hair so that my folks wouldn’t notice. That was the last time for that.

Game #3: Karate Fights

After our evening baths we used to put on our chinese style pajamas and have karate fights. Something about the PJs that brought this out. Luckily, we no longer where chinese PJs.

Game #4: The Z-Team

Yes, when the A-Team was in full force, we formed the Z-Team with kids from the neighborhood. Some special missions included doorbell ditching and even tossing an egg or two. I think the last mission ended badly with an egg and a dog. So goes the Z-Team.

Game #5: Road Games

I actually can’t believe we did this. We poured gas across the road and lit it to create a flame wall. At the time is seemed important and a good idea. This was followed with a purse attached to a fishing pole filled with dirt. The flame would get cars to stop, then they would get out of their car and go for the purse. Sometimes we moved the purse and other times we would let them take it back into their car. Eventually, the police were called and the game ended. I can’t imagine what would happen to kids today if they did this.
